Interesting story. Had not heard it before. Can't corroborate,
though I will say "teleology" is one of the entries in 'Synergetics
Dictionary' -- relates to "voltage pressure" in Fuller's lexicon.
In Buddhist translations, I've seen "the fury of being" for this
pressure (to evolve, to be all we can be).

He did sit on his philosophy for a goodly long time, in part to have
a track record behind him when it was finally published.

He certainly met with a lot of key people. The dishonesty of the
environment (the misinformation therein) is still a challenge for all
of us I'm thinking.

Pauling might have gotten the 3rd Nobel for the structure of DNA had
he been allowed to leave the country and meet with Watson and Crick
earlier. He was denied a visa however, given the McCarthyites were
quite paranoid about the guy.

It's a difficult work and yes, geometric metaphors are at its core,
by design.

You might want to skim the new Wikipedia article on Fuller's
Synergetics as I think it does a pretty good job of distillation.

I tend to pigeon-hole Fuller as an American Transcendentalist (vs.
just New England). His great aunt was Margaret Fuller Ossoli as you
likely know.

Did you ever look at 'Grunch of Giants'? He received a Medal of
Freedom from president Ronald Reagan after this came out. That's
interesting American history in and of itself, regardless of one's
verdict re Synergetics.
