Anyone here doing BBA in Manitowoc County? Â I don't participate in BBA - but I
let people know when I find a nest. Â Found today Collins Marsh area:
Westbound on Thunderbird Rd. & Klessiq Lane, GPS N44â¢05.072 and W088â¢02.310
Red Tail Hawk nest with chicks: Â look across corn field W/SW to tree line. Â
About 1/5 into tree line from the right. Â Confirmed redtail adult presence,
spotting scope could see 2 chick heads in nest.
Anyone wanting or willing to add to BBA (if it isn't already known) please feel
free.

Wow, that's a couple weeks earlier than any report to the Atlas last year,
Steve. Please be sure to report it to Atlas eBird.
Go to http://wsobirds.org/images/atlas/ChronologyCharts.pdf and then do a ;
search for "Horned Lark" to see the breeding chronology plots from 2015.
More details on the plots can be found at:

Subject: [wisb] young Horned Larks, Dane Co.
While out hiking a field, I came across 2 young Horned Larks that could fly
already. I had noticed the past couple weeks that I was seeing more than single
adult birds, along the roadsides.
Lapland Longspurs are still around in good numbers. Steve Thiessen Dane co.
