If the birds Al mentioned were relatively common in Menomonee Falls, I would definitely stop and watch them! I think Northern Cardinal is probably a common bird I can't pass up, but on Thursday night, I deserted the Cardinal in my backyard in favor of a drive to Milwaukee to see the Western Sandpiper before dark! Of those birds relatively common to your area, which do you still stop & watch virtually every time? (Not speaking of ID purposes, just sheer appreciation.) For me, most warblers, Summer or Scarlet Tanagers, and Red-headed Woodpeckers fit the bill.
