I was thrilled yesterday morning to see one Sandhill Crane colt had hatched
around 8:45 a.m. The second one didn't hatch until late in the afternoon. They
already survived their first rainstorm with hail, too!
I have two documentary photos on my Flickr page, which you can view here:

and here:

The first shot shows one egg still un-hatched on the nest with the first colt
who hatched to the right of the egg. The second shot is from late this
afternoon, showing the two colts with both parents, already venturing several
feet from the nest site.
Yellow Warblers and various other usual new arrivals are showing up each day at
our place.
I appreciate all those who contacted me to help with the Wood Duck situation
yesterday. We've resolved it, but the eggs were lost from the trees being cut
down. Hopefully the parents will start over. My neighbor has learned some
valuable lessons.
