I birded Coal Dock Park in Port Washington today and a Horned Grebe was present
along the wall in the harbor. It dove for fish, working its way West, for the
half hour I was there. Other waterfowl present in the last several days at Coal
Dock include Northern Shovelers, Green Winged and Blue Winged Teal, Scaup,
Red-Breasted Mergansers, Bufflehead, Mallard and Canada Geese. Lion's Den Gorge
Nature Preserve in Grafton has had lots of Ring-Necked Ducks, Shovelers,
Redhead, Teal, Gadwall and American Wigeon as well, although they are usually
quite a distance away.
Happy Birding,
