Hi all -
I live near High Cliff State Park and thought I'd provide an update on the
return of birds typically found in the park. As of yesterday, the following
noteworthy birds have returned:
Osprey
Belted Kingfisher
Kinglet
Wood Duck
Eastern Meadowlark
Bluebird
Tree Swallow
Great Blue Heron
I have yet to see Orioles, Hummingbirds and Bob-O-Links. Volunteers have begun
raising the Purple Martin houses.
The odd weather yesterday had the robins and kinglets in what seemed to be some
distress, but I am a novice in this area. One kinglet had ice frozen on its
feet and was having trouble landing on branches. That was tough to see. The
robins were eating sumac berries like it was a last meal. Here's hoping the
weather becomes more hospitable for our feathered friends!
