I've done everything I can to maintain a proper site for Purple Martins in my yard. It is not an ideal situation, but it is the best I can come up with. I put the house up at the time the "scouts" begin to show up in this area, but have yet to see any activity around the house in April, or ealy May, but in each of the last 2 years, a small group (5 birds tonight) flew around the house, even landed on it. So I wonder what that is all about. Aren't they off nesting elsewhere by now? Why do they appear to be interested? Is it possible these are late migrants and I might still see them setting up house? It looked to be 3 males and 2 females. At least one, if not 2, landed on the house for a time, but then 5 minutes later they could not be seen again. Any thoughts?
