At the suggestion of a fellow Goss Bird Club member, I checked out Pewaukee
Lake this afternoon and I was not disappointed. There were well over 2000
ducks of the aythya genus: 800+ REDHEAD, 300+ CANVASBACK, 800+ LESSER
SCAUP, and 30+ RING-NECKED DUCKS. Most were seen from the boat launch at
Smokie's West just off Cty SS. They were easily flushed by speedy boaters
but came back to apparently food rich waters.
Also on the lake were all three mergansers: 100+ COMMON, 25+ RED-BREASTED,
and a handful of HOODED. Other divers present were COMMON GOLDENEYE,
BUFFLEHEAD, and PIED-BILLED and HORNED GREBES. Many more water birds
including ducks, mergs, and gulls were too far to be identified.

Cheers!
