Some frustration to report: because we had a Phalarope last year at South metro in Oak Creek, I thought it might be a natural spot for the Sheboygan bird to stop. However, South Metro has erected some very strong "messages" to not enter the site in the form of orange barricade mesh. Trying to enter the site yesterday caused some security personnel to call me on it. I will try to contact them this week with a request for entry, and hope that we have access especially for our Hales Corners CBC. The Merlin was showing beautifully in the trees behind the car park - easily the best view I've ever had of one, and extremely photogenic. The only other birds of note where two adult Glaucous Gulls and a male Hooded Merganser. The Merlin made a couple of low passes over the shore so I'm wondering about the Phalarope................ At Collins Marsh I had a possible American Pipit but it was a too brief look in the strong wind. However this was good for raptors with three Bald Eagles, two female Northern Harriers, and best of all two Rough-Legged Hawks, one of which caught something quite close to where I was watching. Also at least 7 American Kestrels whilst driving around today.
