I, too, birded the Menasha and Neenah areas this morning. As Dar mentioned, the swans were visible from Jefferson Park while I was there, actively feeding, but eventually they all moved around the southern point. The "usual" 13 duck species were present out from the park, many also feeding this early morning. A 3rd Redhead (female) has joined the 2 males; this was the only new addition from earlier in the week. The Coots are also present (12+). While there was a fair number of gulls, they were all Herrings. The channel by Riverside Park in Neenah is partially open. Waterfowl was standard but there were hundreds of gulls present. Best was a 1st yr Lesser Black-backed Gull that was fairly close to Main St. Also 3 Glaucous Gulls were mixed in. James Island had the 20+ Cormorants, but all of the gulls were Herrings. Little Lake Butte des Morts from Lock St and Ninth St yielded large flocks of gulls, mainly Herrings. However mixed in were 2 Iceland (1st yr and ad), 2 Thayer's (1st yr), 12+ Glaucous (1st, 2nd yr and ad), and 4 Great Black-backed (1st, 3rd yr and 2 ads). As they were shifting around often, one had to really carefully scan the flocks as the nonHerrings would appear and disappear. A scope, patience and time are needed, especially today. Good luck.
