The apparently mated pair of Laughers is gone but there is a subadult bird that
has been seen in the big flock which loafs just to the SE of the Ferry bldg on
the stones- you can see the flock through the fence at the passenger exit gate.
However, last night's 2.5" of rain gave us over 30 feet of decreased shoreline
keeping the summering Scaup happy and gulls were recongregating on the mud at
the south end of the fill this morning. Weed growth is beginning to obscure the
mudflats when viewed from the west. The last spring migrant shorebirds was a
group of Dunlin on the 15th. It will be interesting to see when we get the
first "fall" or wandering-nonbreeding shorebirds.

Bradford beach had 2 first summer GBBGs this morning- not common in Mke. The
pink vested border collie which chases gulls from the beach all day does not
begin work until 9 so the gulls own the beach until then.

I haven't heard of any observations recently.
