Well, the snow today just puts you in the Christmas Bird Count mood, doesn't it? Why not keep that festive feeling going by reviewing the list of counts here: http://wsobirds.org/?page_id=2353 and see if there's one you want to join (many are seriously short of help and can use more counters.) If you're the coordinator of a count and have picked a date, you can update the info by following the links provided. If you're listed as a coordinator and are no longer serving in that capacity, please also update that. Bear in mind that with the holidays on weekends this year, there will be many conflicts with dates, meaning some counts that normally have enough help for adequate coverage will be stretched really thin this year as veteran counters are forced to make painful choices on which ones to do. (And this veteran counter won't be able to help as much as usual due to staff shortages at work.) Even being a "feeder counter" is helpful, so you can sit in the comfort of your own home, sipping coffee and counting birds. You never know what might show up unexpectedly. So c'mon and join in the fun (really!) It can be addictive...
