I spent the morning checking out Horicon Marsh and some adjacent spots. If you
are looking for shorebirds at the marsh, forget it!!! All the ponds are FULL
of water! Today there was no shorebird habitat anywhere. Nothing out of the
ordinary for other birds.
The best shorebird spots currently are Breezy Pt/151 pond and Breezy Pt/Jersey
pond. The first had Pectoral Sandpipers and a Gr. Yellowlegs. The second is
the best as it had 7 shorebird species that included 9 Am Golden Plovers, 10
Dunlins, 350 Pectoral Sandpipers and an early White-rumped Sandpiper.
Barn Swallows were seen at a few spots (FOY), plus a House Wren (FOY) at
Ziegler Park in Mayville. Also there were some Yellow-rumped Warblers.
