Just a quick note - I had to run up to Door County for a meeting yesterday. On the way, we took a sidetrack on Lake Michigan Drive, off of County U, south of Sturgeon Bay. At the north end of Lake Michigan Drive, there is a park. The park has a very nice sand beach, and it is at the east end of the shipping channel. Directly across, on the north side of the channel is the Coast Guard Station, and Pierhead. On the concrete pier was a young Glaucous Gull, larger than the surrounding Herring Gulls, and pure white. There were a lot of gulls on that pier, probably more interesting specimens if one had time to scan for a while. In the water just below the pier was a Loon - Pacific we think. It had more white visible than a Common as it flew away. I can't be certain, as we did not get a long look at the bird. But this looks to be a good spot to find interesting birds. -- Bill Krouse Suamico, Brown County, WI Ask me how to adopt a Greyhound! http://retiredgreyhoundathletes.org/ or http://www.gpawisconsin.org/ Landscape with native plants! http://for-wild.org/chapters/greenbay/ #################### You received this email because you are subscribed to the Wisconsin Birding Network (Wisbirdn).
