All I need is highlight and location...with or without county. When I post I
am usually posting from location to try to let others try to relocate quickly.
I apologize for omitting the county in my haste earlier...and subsequently
starting this string.
Also Ebird is a great way to find exact locations.

Hi all,

It seems to me that it's just a matter of which would people rather
memorize, site locations or county locations. Yes, there are some
sites which are fairly obscure, such as the aforementioned Schumacher
Rd. That being said, WI has over 70 counties in it. I would imagine
that there's a similar phenomenon to what Rory Cameron described with
county locations as well. I know that the further I get from the
counties that I frequent, the less familiar I am with them. It can
also be difficult to include county names in the subject lines of
posts that cross multiple counties. Especially if there are specific
birds that you want to highlight, subject lines can get very long.

Good birding to all!

I am not able to travel all over the state. I look a couple of times a day for
anything "Outagamie", "Brown", "Kewaunee." If I see "Richland", "Brown", and
"Dane", I'll go right to "Brown" and then salivate over whatever Chris saw in
Richland or you saw in Dane later (and hope it flies north!)

I do agree that "Crex" and "Horicon" are possible exceptions, and there may be
others (Milwaukee, Madison, Eau Claire, Appleton). But even "Bay Beach",
wonderful as the place is, might not immediately click as "Brown Co." or "Green
Bay" with everyone.

Yeah, but why does it *need* to be in the subject?

I believe Bettie Harriman has already asked us to include the county name in
our posts. Yes, I know, I haven't been so good about doing that either. I
would think for state parks and other places that are easily recognizable or
show up on Google Maps, it's not such a big deal, but if you're posting from
say Schumacher Rd or one of the Mud Lakes, or another random stop it would
be a good idea to say at least what town it's near if not what county it's
in.
