Buffalo lake in Marquette County has three species of birds numbering in the
1,000's.
American White Pelicans: 1,000 - plus.
Great Egrets: 1,000 - plus.
Tree Swallows: 2,000 - plus and growing.
Many of these birds can best be seen from the Packwaukee causeway (Hwy. D).
However, the road is closed to vehicular traffic early this week due to
construction. They can be viewed however from other locations along County C on
the north shore or Lakeshore Dr. on the south shore of Packwaukee which can be
accessed from the south side of Montello (Hwy K to D west to Lakeshore Dr.).
