If you don't want to go through policies maybe rename the service might
do the trick. you can do it easily in the registry.
HKLM\system\curentcontrolset\services\ "service name" and on your right
you have a key "display name" and "description"

... the policies remain the safest way though!

you could disable that pretty quick by setting a group policy. It won't
=
matter if they are admins of their computer or not. GPO will stop them
=
from messing with services and any other items you don't want them to =
use.

I also tend to agree with the sentiments expressed by the others in the
=
group. Beat them into submission. Read up on your BOFH if you need =
help.

i've got some people disabling the norton service, and i'm sure they =
going=20
through the computer mgmt console to do it. i'm pretty sure the users =
dont=20
know how to run around in the command line, so why not hide it from
the=20
services screen? and everyone is an admin of their own computer here.
