Use qchain.exe from Microsoft. This will interrogate the patches to insure of the latest .dll being installed and only require one reboot upon its execution. To do what you want write a batch file to call all the patches you wish to install using the -z and -q switches for all of the packages except for the last package, which you would just need to use the -q switch, then the system will re-boot after installing the last patch. HTH, Mike >>> a_wolsten@xxxxxxxxxxx 05/11/05 9:00 am >>> Thanks ken however, using this switch reboots the system after a patch install. Is there a switch which simply cancels the reboot I basically have about 15 patches to roll out and need to do this via script without reboot after each patch >From: "Leitman, Ken" <ken.leitman@xxxxxxxx> >Reply-To: windows2000@xxxxxxxxxxxxx >To: <windows2000@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> >Subject: [windows2000] Re: Windows patch switch options >Date: Wed, 11 May 2005 09:17:11 -0400 >MIME-Version: 1.0 >Received: from turing.freelists.org ([206.53.239.180]) by >mc5-f38.hotmail.com with Microsoft SMTPSVC(6.0.3790.211); Wed, 11 May 2005 >06:17:47 -0700 >Received: from localhost (localhost [127.0.0.1])by turing.freelists.org >(Avenir Technologies Mail Multiplex) with ESMTP id 33DEC1924A1;Wed, 11 May >2005 08:17:47 -0500 (EST) >Received: from turing.freelists.org ([127.0.0.1])by localhost (turing >[127.0.0.1]) (amavisd-new, port 10024)with ESMTP id 03024-09; Wed, 11 May >2005 08:17:47 -0500 (EST) >Received: from turing (localhost [127.0.0.1])by turing.freelists.org >(Avenir Technologies Mail Multiplex) with ESMTP id A2FB41920C8;Wed, 11 May >2005 08:17:46 -0500 (EST) >Received: with ECARTIS (v1.0.0; list windows2000); Wed, 11 May 2005 >08:17:17 -0500 (EST) >Received: from localhost (localhost [127.0.0.1])by turing.freelists.org >(Avenir Technologies Mail Multiplex) with ESMTP id 9D131191DB7for ><windows2000@xxxxxxxxxxxxx>; Wed, 11 May 2005 08:17:17 -0500 (EST) >Received: from turing.freelists.org ([127.0.0.1])by localhost (turing >[127.0.0.1]) (amavisd-new, port 10024)with ESMTP id 02861-04 for ><windows2000@xxxxxxxxxxxxx>;Wed, 11 May 2005 08:17:17 -0500 (EST) >Received: from nydmta04.acml.com (nydmta04.acml.com [209.191.168.55])by >turing.freelists.org (Avenir Technologies Mail Multiplex) with ESMTP id >3EF8B19205Cfor <windows2000@xxxxxxxxxxxxx>; Wed, 11 May 2005 08:17:17 -0500 >(EST) >Received: from NYDMTA03.acml.com (nydmta03.acml.com [209.191.168.54])by >nydmta04.acml.com (Postfix) with ESMTP id C518BC0087for ><windows2000@xxxxxxxxxxxxx>; Wed, 11 May 2005 09:17:12 -0400 (EDT) >Received: from Unknown [10.81.132.94] by NYDMTA03.acml.com - SurfControl >E-mail Filter (4.7); Wed, 11 May 2005 09:17:12 -0400 >Received: from ac2kama0107.ac.lp.acml.com ([10.80.58.124]) by >ac2knjs0103.ac.lp.acml.com with Microsoft SMTPSVC(5.0.2195.6713); Wed, 11 >May 2005 09:17:11 -0400 >X-Message-Info: yilqo4+6kc6GyBGZuLHl+BGuT2gQGn6L09Z9FZXu57A= >X-Original-To: windows2000@xxxxxxxxxxxxx >Delivered-To: windows2000@xxxxxxxxxxxxx >X-MimeOLE: Produced By Microsoft Exchange V6.0.6603.0 >X-MS-Has-Attach: X-MS-TNEF-Correlator: X-OriginalArrivalTime: 11 May 2005 >13:17:11.0845 (UTC) FILETIME=[BDD65550:01C5562B] >X-SEF-7CA6E718-D2BE-4362-AD2F-84ABC5B2CFDF: 1 >content-class: urn:content-classes:message >Thread-Topic: [windows2000] Windows patch switch options >Thread-Index: AcVWKdQxP6mCNa1QSouKcwIgt6aNegAAeVPA >X-Virus-Scanned: by amavisd-new-20030616-p9 (Debian) at avenirtech.net >X-archive-position: 14856 >X-ecartis-version: Ecartis v1.0.0 >Errors-To: windows2000-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx >X-original-sender: ken.leitman@xxxxxxxx >Precedence: normal >X-list: windows2000 >X-Virus-Scanned: by amavisd-new-20030616-p9 (Debian) at avenirtech.net >Return-Path: windows2000-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx > >/q > >-----Original Message----- >From: windows2000-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx >[mailto:windows2000-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Andy Wolstenholme >Sent: Wednesday, May 11, 2005 9:03 AM >To: windows2000@xxxxxxxxxxxxx >Subject: [windows2000] Windows patch switch options > >Hi chaps, > >just wondering if there are any switch options which can be used when >running windows 200/2003/XP pro patches. > >I am basically trying to run patches in silent mode, accepting any >license >agreements etc > >thanks in advance > > >******************************************************** >This Weeks Sponsor: Straymonkey.com >Excellent web templates, fonts, and downloads >on this new site brought to you by The Kenzig Group >http://www.straymonkey.com >********************************************************** >To Unsubscribe, set digest or vacation >mode or view archives use the below link. > >http://thethin.net/win2000list.cfm > > > >----------------------------------------- >The information contained in this transmission may contain privileged and >confidential information and is intended only for the use of the person(s) >named >above.
