GroupShield

Hi Paul,

We block the following extensions on our Groupshield for Exchange:

bat,cmd,com,exe,pif,scr,vbs

This will block 98 percent of all incoming viruses.

Luckily, most of the users are software developers of system administrators,
so they now the risks quite well. For that reason, we do not block zip
files.....If someone needs to send an attachment that would be blocked, they
can always zip it.....

If your users are clicking on every attachment by default, without realizing
that it could be a virus......then I would definitely block the zip files as
well.

Good luck,

Hello,

Sorry for the OT question but the McAfee group at Yahoo is useless.....

This question is for those of you that are using Group Shield (if there are
any of you out there). How do you handle blocking attachments? Do you block
everything or a limited file extension? What do you do when a legit file
attachment is blocked? I know you can save it and then pass it on to the
user but is that my only option?

Thanks in advance for any advice

Paul
