Yup.  At least M$ has changed that in Server 2003.  Everything might get
installed, but most of it is off by default.

Just one thing to add... Why do most OSs install all dumb services/daemons
default? Microsoft does great on that... The sys admin must not know
anything, so lets just install everything! Shouldnt it be the opposite? If
he wants to use the service, go learn about, install it and configure....
Just a thought....
