Hi Tim

Thanks for the info, but we can't copy the MSI locally, either through a UNC
path or a networked drive.

Thanks

Stephen

There is a Microsoft kb article regarding this error (I'm too lazy to look
it up right now). Basically, MSI's will do this if run from a mapped drive.
Copy the msi locally and it usually solves the problem.

Subject: [windows2000] Problem Copying MSI File

Hi There

I was wondering if someone has seen the problem we are getting?
The problem is, we are rolling out Adobe Acrobat Reader 6.0.1 to all pc's.
So far everything has worked fine apart from 1 site.
The issue we have found is that when installing the package through active
directory the application doesn't get installed.
The application log has the following error "the system cannot read from
specified device".
After every reboot the application attempts to reinstall.
So we then tried to copy the application locally and then install,
but we get errors there too, either "path too deep" or "the specified device
is no longer available".

We had the network checked and the wan link to the site was dropping
packets,
this has now been repaired, but still got the above problems.
Check Adobe's website, also and nothing helped.

Anyone got any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Stephen
