First of all, make sure you have the right licenses (help --> about backup exec). I had an SQL license there, but still couldn't backup the SQL 2000 database. Turned out that a SQL license is only for SQL5.5 or earlier and that the SQL 2000 License will backup SQL 2000 or earlier. Small but important difference. The job definitions tab lists all jobs that were created ones. But it does not mean that they will be run! You should look at the activity monitor. That's were you can see what backups are actually scheduled. What I always do, is create a new schedule for a server, save it (it then is listed in the job definitions) and then schedule that job. When I have done that, the scheduled job can be seen in the activity monitor. So you can have lots of job definitions, but that does not say that one single backup is actually running. Simply right-click on a job in the job definition tab and click 'new schedule'. You can also right-click and choose properties. Then you will see what the job should backup and how.... Hope this helps you a bit. Still, the versions might be close enough so that you could help. What we are wondering about is how does Veritas backup things like MS Exchange 2000 Server? And SQL Server 2000? In the Job Definition tab we see a dialog box that lists "SQL" and "Exchange", but we don't understand what goes in there, how often it gets backed up (because it doesn't look to us like it is getting backed up as often as we would like), and that kind of thing. Can you help us?
