I'm back to cmd methods...

for /f "Skip=5 Tokens=11" %p in ('ping -n 1 somedomain.com') do (If
"%p"=="(100%" net send %computername% somedomain missed a ping. | wscript
pingalrt.vbs)

Something like that anyway.  I'll just run two jobs.  One that checks for
100% loss and one that checks for DNS failure.  The line above will check
for 100% loss, I think...
