Hi all, We're using telnet to get to our library computer. Lately, at one library only, we've been seeing quite a few sessions just dropping at the client end for seemingly no reason, most times after large periods of inactivity. This is happening with W2K and W98SE stations, but not all machines in the building are affected. I stuck a packet sniffer on one machine, and found out that the MAC address changed at the client end, then the host immediately sent a RST (reset) packet and dropped the session. The previous telnet packet looked fine. They are loading Novell as the primary protocol, but also TCP/IP. This has just started recently (last month and a half).
Has anybody seen anything like this? I'm totally at a loss. -George --------------------------------------------------------------------------- George Yobst, Library Technology Analyst phone: 503.723.4890 Library Information Network of Clackamas County fax: 503.794.8238 16239 SE McLoughlin Blvd, Suite 208 web: http://www.lincc.lib.or.us Oak Grove, OR 97267-4654 email: george@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx "...it is impossible for anyone to begin to learn what he thinks he already knows." - Epictetus
