I don't know about rebuilt...   I mean, to be safe, I'd probably rebuild
them, however (in theory) you could just run DCPromo on them and remove AD
so you have a big pile of standalone servers, and then run DCPromo again to
begin the new domain..  At least that way you wouldn't lose any
sharepoints..  You'd lose the permissions, but not the data and the shares
themselves...
 
And yes, the member servers should just be able to join the new domain,
albeit with the permissions issue...
 
I would suggest writing a piece of VBScript that will dump the contents of
your AD so you can just re-import them into your new domain...

I gather all DC's will have to rebuilt, however can all member servers
simply unjoin old and rejoin new domain once in place?

Ok guys throwing this out there because I want to make a checklist of
everything that will need to be done. 
 
For legal reasons our domain name needs to change. Is this something that
can be done on a 2000 DC or does the DC and entire domain need to be
rebuilt?
