Thanks Daniel. The register key is what I was looking for.

Hi Ron

Once you have changed the view in Explorer then if you go to Tools/ folder
options and view then click Like current folder, it should then update your
view. Is that what you mean?

This doesn't work if you have more than one instance of explorer open at the
time.

The following faq contains the registry keys for changing the view
permanently:

Hope that helps
Cheers
Dan

Subject: [windows2000] Customize view on folder

Good Morning List,
Is there any way to change the default view of a folder from the standard
view to the classic view. I know to go to the 'Customize this folder' under
the View menu but is there a way to change the default behavior from
standard to classic (no image preview)?

We manage alot of image files and everytime I want to rename an image I have
to change the view of the folder because that pesky image preview comes up
and prevents me from renaming the file (sharing violation error).

TIA

Ron
