You better believe they were and I was running one them! That was the day of
the "Freenet" that a lot of universities ran.

When is the last time we have a windows 2000 question on this list?

For the sake of the thread I would like to point out that my first computer
was a Tandy 2000, it had a modem of some sort.  I through the thing away
about 10 years ago and when I through it away I was amazed that it had a
modem.  Tell me this you old timers, why the heck would a computer that old
have a modem.  Were BBSs around in the early 80s,
