When is the last time we have a windows 2000 question on this list? For the sake of the thread I would like to point out that my first computer was a Tandy 2000, it had a modem of some sort. I through the thing away about 10 years ago and when I through it away I was amazed that it had a modem. Tell me this you old timers, why the heck would a computer that old have a modem. Were BBSs around in the early 80s, or was my dad doing some secret thing in the Navy he never told me about. I've been learning a lot about him in the Navy now that he is getting old. LOL! I even splurged on the memory upgrade to make it a total of 1K. OK, I changed the subject line... First I said: > Gee, now I'm gonna have to walk out to the garage and fire up the > Teletype machine and run some of my tapes through it. > Used to love making and watching those pictures. BTW, I still do make > a TTY calendar almost every year - fully edited on paper tape too. Then "Greg Reese" <GReese@...> said: > the urge to call you a geek is overwhelming > :) > "Hello Kettle?!? It's me Pot. You're black." Then "Charles R. Buchanan" <crbgfblab@...> replied: > Wouldn't the deciding factor be if he owned/used a pocket protector? > :-) I used one in college. I also carried a slide rule on my belt (and knew how to use it) right next to a ham radio, wore thick glasses, and was overweight. So, am I a Nerd? Oddly I did not own a computer until almost a decade later when Commodore came out with the Amiga, and did not buy an "IBM compatible" PC until 1998. ----------------------- Jim Walls - K6CCC k6ccc@xxxxxxxxx Mobile Radio Operations Southern California Edison Co.
