Do you have access to your DNS? Create a forward lookup to
messenger.hotmail.com and point it to 127.0.0.1
Or:

Create a group policy for the users which prohibits the running of the
program "msmsgs.exe" or the executable for MSN IM. This also works for
numerous annoying programs and utilities (ie cmd.exe, calc.exe, mspaint.exe,

etc. etc.)

here's a group policy reference link...

and here's a link on roaming profiles etc...

Subject: [windows2000] Banning msn messager...

Hi again,

I have a quick question, how can I ban msn messager use to the internet? We
have Sonicwall firewalls that can ban websites, so can I make use of this,
or do I need to ban ports (and if so, which ones).

Thanks,

Steve
