[windows2000] AD & DNS

Has anyone implemented Active Directory while still supplying DNS from a UNIX host? Was this done by simply pointing the workstations to the IP of the DNS hosts or was this a mixed mode implementation whereby the Domain Controllers serve DNS but retrieve it first from the UNIX host?

What is the suggested best method for setting this up while keeping the UNIX DNS host?

Thanks,
