Hi Chris. What type of internet connection do you have? If you have a broad band connection, you can run your own server quite comfortably, and stream to several listeners. Even on a modem connection, you should be able to support one listener, and failing that whatever you do, your broadcast from your server can be relayed by someone who does have more bandwidth to play with. This approach is not perfect, but it's a start. Failing that, you can purchase ShoutCast, Icecast and/or Supercast from a variety of providers, which are worthwhile if you're going to make frequent use of your server. I shan't mention any here, but if you are interested, write me off-list, or do a search on Google. There are several off the top of my head which I can think of. If you need a hand setting up a server on your computer, I can offer limited assistance. I have experience with ShoutCast and Icecast builds running under windows, and would recommend Icecast as it supports vorbis in addition to mp3, and allows several different streams to run on a single port, very useful if attempting to run server software behind a nat router. As for the plug-in you use for broadcasting in Winamp, I'm less experienced there. I have only used ShoutCast and the Sam Encoders for any great length, but it appears that you are already familiar with these options. Good luck, whatever you decide to do Regards, Darren To post a message to the list, send it to winamp4theblind@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx To unsubscribe from this mailing list, please send a message to: winamp4theblind-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the word unsubscribe in the subject line.
