I wonder if someone sighted should go looking in his microphone settings? Because there's a thing in that setting. You have to do something like Microphone boost! A sighted person has to watch closely. Then you might have to play around with the mike in that area of winamp! Just a thought! I hope I explained it right! This is almost hard for Jaws to see it! You can do it. but it's tricky. My room mate has this problem. It's better to have a sighted friend help you with that. It does get frustrating if you do this yourselves. Chris, Just ask your friend or whoever you are helping with this situation explain to his sighted friend and maybe he can fiddle with that recording situation! Good luck! ----- Original Message ----- From: "Chris Skarstad" <toonhead@xxxxxxxxxx>

Hey folks This question isn't for me, I'm helping a guy get his Winamp set up for broadcasting, and he has a really weird thing going on. He's able to use his mic in all kinds of situations like sending voice clips over Windows Live Messenger, he can record using recording programs, basically the mic he has works just fine. However when he uses Winamp, and the line recording plugin to broadcast, his mic goes mute and he can't be heard at all. He's using a realtech card, it says high definition audio, so I'm willing to bet that's onboard sound. Is it possible that his mic could be muted, but only when the line recording plugin is being used? I'm familiar with the windows XP and 9x series of the volume controls, like you can have things muted in playback but not in recording. Is there a setting he needs to look at or change so he can get this to work. Like I say, his mic works beautifully in all kinds of other situations accept with the line recording plugin. When he uses it, the Winamp title bar says line recording just as it should but no audio. It's frustrating as you can imagine. Any ideas would be really helpful! Thanks folks.
