Last Thursday was the sixth anniversary of my father's death. So this week on Toews on the Waves, I want to pay tribute to this man who meant so much to me.
One of the things that Dad and I had in common was our enjoyment of old-time radio programs. Often I would record these shows if a local station happened to be airing them, and Dad and I would listen together as we went into town for coffee or to run an errand.
So for this week's TOTW, I have picked four series that Dad and I used to listen to together: Fibber McGee and Molly, The Shadow, the Jack Benny Program, and the Lone Ranger. I picked episodes of these shows which I've never heard before, so I'll be enjoying them right along with you, for the first time. I'll be pretending, in my heart, that I am once again with my dad, and we are listening to these great programs together.
Between the shows I'll be sharing a few memories of Dad as well. It promises to be a wonderful, nostaligic show for me, and I hope it's an enjoyable collection of programs from radio's golden age for you.
