Did you try rebboting, then restarting win2k? The detect process writes a log, anything that doesn't work the first time is ommited the next time. Some times I would get the blue screen while detecting hardware, and I would reboot, let Win2k run (not setup from the CD, setup on the harddrive) and I wouldn't have a rpoblem the second time around. Win2k tries to run differant configs by the machine to detect hardware. Some configs will crash the machine. -----Original Message----- From: win2kforum-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:win2kforum-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx]On Behalf Of Richard Smith Sent: Mon, March 26, 2001 2:14 AM To: win2kforum@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [win2kforum] Re: w2k Installation Issues Thanks L.W.Kramer & Justin, here's some more info! I don't have any on-board devices at all. There are none - I have no on-board anything! I don't use IDE so it's switched off in the BIOS - this is an exclusively SCSI machine. But I did try using an IDE hard drive and CD-ROM at one time to see if that could have been the issue. And I did leave the machine sitting idle on the splash screen with the progress meter at 51% for about 8 hours one time. No change! Keyboard sounds interesting - I'm using a PS/2 keyboard which was originally shipped with an HP UNIX machine, so that may be an issue. Plug 'n' play is a real nightmare for me, I just hate it. A real advantage of NT is that you don't get PnP so you never get the machine hanging because it's too stupid to sort out IRQs and stuff like that. This mobo seems pretty good, and AMD authorize it for the K6-2 processors, but getting Microsoft to acknowledge anything that isn't Intel makes getting help a real issue! Any more help really welcome! Richard At 02:00 AM 3/26/01, you wrote: >Date: Sun, 25 Mar 2001 16:06:15 -0800 >From: "L.W.
