FREE MOTHER'S DAY CONCERT IN THE PARK
Sunday, May 8, 2011 at 5:00pm
The Kiwanis Club of San Diego, San Diego State University School of Music
and Dance, together with its sponsors invite all music lovers to attend the
annual free concert in Balboa Park in honor of Mother's Day featuring the
SDSU Aztec Concert Choir. The ensemble, directed by Chris Allen, is
comprised of 120 SDSU students, both music majors and non-majors, who
perform selections spanning a wide variety of musical literature, including
classical choral music, music theater selections, Disney songs,
Glee-inspired arrangements, and a chance for Michael Jackson fans to get up
and dance to Thriller!
The Mother's Day Concert in the Park is a "gift" to the community from the
Kiwanis Club of Downtown San Diego. The San Diego Kiwanis Club has spent
over 90 years providing extensive community involvement programs for youth
and the greater San Diego community. Kiwanis Club President Ken Coley says,
"Concert in the Park has become 'the place to be' on Mother's Day."
