I usually buy as many as possible of the popular ones for my clients just as a way to reserve and protect the brand. If I had a nickel for all the times I accidentally went to a .com version of a not for profit that was a .org or .net. You can always point all the domains to the same place. best, morry -- _______________________________ www.coDecode.com people ideas technology On Wed, 21 Nov 2001, Thomas Walser wrote: > > hi, > > i was wondering if anyone had an opinion with regard to using different > extensions for variations of a company's domain name. > > what i mean is, if you have domain name of www.ex-why-zee.com, for > example, and you also wanted to use a shorter version of www.x-y-z.com, > which was unavailable, would you use www.x-y-z.net as well? > > i'm trying to convince a friend that if he's going to be using an > abbreviated version of his company's domain name, he should probably > stick to using one extension and not have one be a .com and another be a > .net. > > i'd like to know if people agree with me on this, if there are any > statistics with regard to this, or any other feed back. > > thanks, > tom > > > __________________________________________________________________________ > Check out www.webproducers.org to easily access list commands like subscribe, > unsubscribe, digest mode, vacation, and to read the list archive. > > Questions and comments are welcome just e-mail me, morry@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx > __________________________________________________________________________ Check out www.webproducers.org to easily access list commands like subscribe, unsubscribe, digest mode, vacation, and to read the list archive.
