The Sheridan Group, a small, progressive-issue lobbying firm in Washington, DC is seeking proposals for the redesign of our website, http://www.sheridangroupdc.com. Website Audience The main purpose for the Sheridan Group's website is to communicate with potential clients and others seeking basic information about the Sheridan Group and our services. Our audience is primarily members of non-profit groups and employees of various government agencies with whom we have business relationships. Scope The Sheridan Group website is primarily an online brochure, consisting of approximately 10-20 pages. We are seeking a clean, elegant graphical interface (commensurate with our offline image), improved navigation, better search engine performance, and updated content. The site should be written in clean, standards-compliant HTML that can be updated in the future by a relatively non-technical user with a GUI-based editing tool such as Dreamweaver. There will be little to no backend scripting required (possibly a contact form). Up-to-date content will be provided to the vendor prior to the project's inception. Restrictions The Sheridan Group is a small company with a small website, and a correspondingly small budget. Please include in your proposal a line item for stock photography and any other non-labor costs you anticipate so that there will be no surprises down the road. Although respondents need not be in the Washington, DC metro area, there is no budget for reimbursable travel, so please be prepared to work with the logistical difficulties associated with long-distance consulting. Please send all proposals to me at mgemmill@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx (not to mgemmill@xxxxxxx), though you are welcome to address questions concerning this request to me at mgemmill@xxxxxxxx The president of the Sheridan Group (who is the main decision-maker on this project) has little knowledge of or interest in techno-BS, so please keep it simple and straightforward. Be sure to include examples of prior work from your portfolio (including an explanation of your role on the project) as well as references from previous clients. Please submit your proposal by email no later than 5pm on Wednesday, October 2, 2002. If you cannot submit by email for any reason, please contact me at mgemmill@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx for alternatives. NO PHONE CALLS! If you call me without prior arrangement, I will delete any proposal you send me.
