No, no, no. For God's sake, NO!
Read what I wrote Saturday.
This article has been twisted and perverted into something that it was not
intended to be by people who wish to marginalize what is intended by this
article.

So Lemme get this straight, is article 24 just about being able to carry a
gun into a town meeting?

I agree.
How long do these meetings usually last?

I find it hard to understand what all the discourse is about this article.
After all wasn't this country founded on freedom of everyone to speak their
mind so long as it did not infringe on others to do the same, that's all
that is happening here. we have a group of people that feel their rights
may have been or will be denied . why not approve the article and let the
attorney general decide on its constitutionality . That's what we pay our
taxes for. What are so you afraid of ?

I remember learning as a young girl that there are no stupid questions,
only ignorant people who make assumptions. Better to ask a stupid question
than proceed through life as ignorant and assumming you know the answer.

I will speak solely for myself. I am one of the signers and I am the one

you for answering it for me.
I signed as I feel the Board should uphold the Constitution put forth by
those who lived through The Revolutionary War. The main reason was taxation
without representation. Also a part was the British taking control of
powder houses leaving colonists with no way to hunt or defend themselves.
I have been to board meeting and the topic of when/if residents should be
allowed to talk. Freedom of Speech also comes from the Constitution. For
me personally, as a tax payer, if I can talk-what I can talk about-when I
can talk- and for how long I can talk is part of my Freedom of Speech. I
don't wish to be told, Again, at a meeting you can speak about that. If
there is not time, or the board feels it is not the time and place; offer
to speak with me at another time. I am flexible about most things but
don't take to being told No before I even finish a question. It has been a
long time since I was involved with a small town, but that treatment keeps
me from wanting to offer my help. When not Welcomed people don't come back.
Thank you for reading I hope to meet some of you at tomorrow's meeting.

A commenter on Article 24 suggested it was important to refresh our
understanding of the importance of the Constitution. I volunteered for
the Army and served as a paratrooper during the Vietnam War. I do not
need to salute the flag to love my country, nor do I need some town
meeting action to refresh my memory. I and many, many others in this
town have honorably served our county in many ways - as teachers,
nurses, policemen, firemen, and so many other ways. This is a part of
us and we do not need a town meeting to remind us of this. These values
are so deeply imbedded within me that I think the article has little
meaning.
Others have suggested the article is about banning firearms in the town
hall. If so, I will vote against it. A town meeting article should
address an issue head on. If it is hard to figure out whether the
article is about guns or not about guns, and the article was supposed to
be addressing that issue, well it is so well concealed and vague as to
be worthless.
On the topic of guns and Article 24, someone suggested that the town
hall is not a government building. This is wrong. It is a government
building. It houses the town offices; it is where most town boards
meet; it is owned by the town; it is administered by the town and it is
insured by the town. It is true that there are other functions such as
meals and music, but no one that I know thinks of the town hall as a
restaurant or a dance hall, even thou the food is wonderful and the
dancing enjoyable. The town hall is not like the joke about Pierre the
Goat Guy. It is the town hall. s
