Season’s End - FRUIT BATS!

2007 Coed Softball - Recreational League (Madison MSCR)

We ended our 5th Coed Softball season with a 5-5 record and it was another successful season with different players and fans alike. I have enjoyed coaching this team since we began in 2002. You can find the softball standings on the MSCR website at http://mscr.org/working/Coed%20Friday%20Standings%2007.pdf - we are in the Miami League.

Fans – thank you so much for coming out to watch – you may not realize, but your presence gives the players a good feeling and gives us a sense of pride. We look forward to seeing all of you again next year!

A special thanks to our sponsors – Bill’s Key Shop, Hamilton Relay, Swim West and KleenMark (formerly Hoffman Chemicals). Their support greatly enables us to play and represent the signing community of Madison/Dane County!

Even though Coed Softball is over for 2007, I continue to look for players for 2008. If you or someone you know is interested, please email me at fruitytuity2002@xxxxxxxxxx We do need more Deaf and Hard of Hearing men and women across Wisconsin to join coed softball, men’s softball, women’s softball, coed volleyball and men’s basketball.

Soon – you will be reading about Fall Coed Volleyball teams – 2 (yes – TWO) teams! Stay tuned.

Help Jess Weeden Compete in Taiwan

Who is Jess Weeden?
Jess Weeden is a Monroe High School freshman, who, at age 14, is one of the youngest of 12 athletes on the National Deaf Swim Team.

She will spend the summer training for six days of competition in the World Deaf Swimming Championships in Taipei, Taiwan August 11-18, 2007.

Jess needs your help. She needs to raise about four thousand dollars by August for her expenses to travel to Taiwan. Unlike the hearing teams, Deaf athletes do not receive any funding from the US Olympic Committee, so each athlete must raise the money for their own costs.

To learn more about Jess, a bright and talented young athlete, and how you can help, read her brochure at http://www.wi-deaf.org/images/documents/JessWeeden.pdf

Help Jess represent the US in international competition in Taiwan this summer!
