For those of us using Microsoft outlook versions "2002, 2003 and upwards"
we are going to look at making junk mail filters and how easy this can be.

Some of us will have software that filters spam mails out of our inbox and
directly into a special folder within outlook. These programs could be
cloudmark or another good one is spamfighter. However, outlook does come
with its own junk mail filter and while it's not as effective as the
commercial ones, it is quite good and can be thought to improve its overall
ability to remove spam mail from your inbox. We are going to look at how we
might teach outlooks junk mail filter to remove undesirable messages from
our inbox in the following steps.
Note: While the commercially available software anti spam packages are very
good, occasionally they let one or two of the junk mails through. This can
be a useful secondary backup job for outlooks own spam mail filter.

1. Arrow to the junk mail that is in your inbox.

2. Press the application key on it.

3. Up or down arrow to "junk mail" and right arrow. You will have the
following list appear;
Junk Mail Options.
* Add Sender to Blocked Senders List
"This adds for example the name or email, jsmith@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx to the
junk mail filter. All messages from this domain which is, buymyproducts.com
will go directly into the junk email folder"

* Add Sender to Safe Senders List
"Sometimes you may find upon checking the junk mail box that a friend,
family member or some other important email has accidently gone into the
junk mail folder, use this option to allow this email in future to go
directly into the inbox by arrowing to the message and pressing enter on
this option"

* Add Sender's Domain (@example.com) to Safe Senders List
"This allows your friend or family member etc's domain to be excluded from
the junk mail filter. By domain I mean something like for example,
gmail.com. Any messages in future bearing this domain name will be allowed
go directly into the inbox"

* Add Recipient to Safe Recipients List
"Again, just another option to allow safe passage for any important emails
specifically from certain people, businesses etc to be kept free from the
junk mail folder"

* Mark as Not Junk...
"You can have particular emails coming from a domain such as Gmail.com for
example marked as not junk but not all mail from the domain, Gmail.com will
be excluded from the junk mail filter"

5. To simply add the junk mail we selected earlier to the junk mail folder
just press the enter key on the first option in the above list of choices
and then press enter again on the ok button to complete it.

The spam mail will be removed from your inbox and placed into the junk mail
folder. You can at any time go into the junk mail folder and check it for
any mails which you would not want going in there.

Paul.
