Eamon try this.  My 3gs is finally dying so I don't have it to hand.


1.  go to the app switcher.
2.  now use the three-finger swipe to change page; exactly as you would when 
moving from screen to screen of apps etc.
3.  I *think* there are player controls there but am not certain.
