Hi everybody, Since I am new to this list, I would like to introduce myself. My name is Ultan O'Broin. I am a student on the MSC in MIS (part-time) in Trinity College Dublin. My research project for this year will be on the subject of Web 2.0 and accessibility. I'm interested in learning more about this from your perspective. At some point I'd like to get your thoughts on this and maybe run some new best practices for developers by you. I am interested in the challenges posed not only Web 2.0 technology (AJAX, for example) but also by the underlying principles: collaboration and participation, and what this means for real inclusion. Background Since 2000 I have been responsible for implementing accessibility standards in Oracle Applications documentation and help (S508 and WAI) worldwide, and am part of Oracle's Accessibility Forum, working closely with the Director of Accessibility in Oracle in the US. I am currently User Interface Architect with Oracle Fusion Applications responsible for the patterns, standards and guidelines for the user assistance component of the Fusion user experience, which includes accessibility. I also maintain a website in the US: www.marinadock.org, and have taken part in the California Accessibility Internet Rally, working with Macromedia (as it was) and other companies to create accessible websites for non-profit organisations. I have published articles on multilingual, localisation, internationalisation, and accessibility in Multilingual magazine (the current edition has an article on multilingual computing for the visually impaired - www.multilingual.com),where I am on the editorial board, and also spoken worldwide at conferences on localization and internationalisation topics (International Macintosh Users Group in Cupertino, Unicode conference, Localization World, etc).
