Yep, that's how it works. then if your keyboard has a dongle, which it probably does if it's USB, you insert the dongle into the female USB port and plug the micro USB into the port used for battery charging. I was surprised at how easy this was.

I hate to be such a dummy, but then somebody has to do it so it might as well be me.
What the heck is an OTG cable. Is it one that has the male micro USB on one end and a female USB jack on the other end?

Hi.  I use an old Logitech with my Fire.  I don't remember if the model is
K340 or 350, but it was purchased back in 2010.  I didn't think it would
work with such a new product as the Fire.  But I used an OTG cable and it
worked perfectly.  It makes typing things like passwords much easier if
you're not familiar with the keyboard.

I haven't been able to get the Logitech's full size number pad to work as a
numpad, so I need to use the regular numbers row.  Other than that, the
connection is good and there's no lag when entering keystrokes.

Hi. I want to know what people on this list use for a keyboard for the
Kindle Fire? I read William Brandes blog about using a full Microsoft
keyboard. Any other suggestions? Wo sales these keyboards and how much do
they cost?
