Hi everyone, I read this today and thought I'd pass it on here, it's one tech writers conclusion on Android updates: http://www.zdnet.com/unintended-result-of-inconsistent-android-updates-i-no-longer-care-7000025334/ While I agree with how frustrating the fragmentation of Android is and the lack of timely updates for pretty much everyone, I must admit for a long time I haven't been so excited about new updates anyway. As I've always said, if you really want (or in the case of accessibility features, need) a feature which is included in a particular version of Android specifically, but really any operating system, then go and buy a device which comes with that version. Yes it's nice to have the latest version with the newest bells and whistles, but to be honest, I'm sitting here trying to think of what software features my newest phone with Android 4.3 has that my old Galaxy S running 2.3 doesn't have, and to be honest, aside from the accessibility improvements (which are huge in that jump), I really can't think of much. Obviously the hardware is faster and fancier, but to be honest I find the biggest improvements to my phone come not from a new system update, but from finding a new app. Using Big Launcher or Aqua Mail or Calendar ++ (Dark) is more of a benefit I notice every day than say the ability to print directly from my phone or connect wirelessly to my TV instead of with a cable, or lock screen widgets. Actually if the current poor system of Android updates being distributed has taught me anything, it's about the importance of making the most out of existing devices running older versions, rather than trying to look over the horizon for the next "big thing".
