Went looking this morning 4-14 at Henricus and have a question regarding sparrows. I saw a number of song sparrows along the main road flitting back and forth between the chain link fence row and the marsh area where all the red-wing blackbirds nest. I'm not the best sparrow guy but a few of the sparrows looked especially short-tailed. When I looked closely the tail was indeed short and notched-not rounded. I checked carefully and could find no yellow on or near the lores. Any chance it's a Savannah? Has anyone ever seen them at Henricus? I should mention that the sparrow was streaked breast & sides with central spot. First blue grosbeak and common yellowthroat of year(for me) Thanks Tom Thomas You are subscribed to VA-Richmond-General.
