I hope to see many of you at the Gaskins Park and Ride Lot this Saturday by
7:00 A.M or joining me later at the side of the Inn at Afton hotel along with
the local birders and hawk counting experts.

Sincerely,

Tyler Turpin

This is part of a message I receieved Tuesday evening from Brenda Tekin the
coordinator of the Rockfish Gap Hawkwatch:

On Sunday, those on board witnessed a spectacular flight of Broad-winged Hawks
that continued throughout the day. In excess of 6,000, we set the 4th highest
single day record in the history of Rockfish Gap Hawk Watch, dating back to
1976.

I have received initial reports that Broad-wing continue to move through in
good numbers. By mid-day yesterday around 300 or so had moved through and an
impressive large flight in late afternoon. The initial report is in excess of
1,400 for the day. Other raptors are moving through as well and the Bald Eagle
totals to date indicate another record-setting year.
