[va-richmond-general] Dutch Gap prothonotary project update

Thus far there are 47 color-banded males distributed about Dutch Gap.  The
majority of them were color-banded by Charlie Clarkson, one of Charlie
Blem's graduate student's doing the fieldwork for his thesis out there.  I
checked the 56 boxes on the interior loop (large lagoon) for nesting
activity today.  Counted 38 eggs.  Caught a female, safely returned from
last year, already sitting on a completed clutch of 5 eggs! Not sure if she
recognized me.  As prothonotaries lay one egg per day, her first egg was
layed April 25th at the latest. They don't start brooding until the last egg
is layed.
