On this rainy morning 14 dedicated souls were treated to 61 species, some of
which were:
rose-breasted grosbeak
red-shouldered hawk on the nest
great blue herons ""
several ruby-throated hummingbirds
yellow-bellied sapsucker
great crested flycatcher
vireo: white eyed, red eyed, yellow-throated and blue-headed
black and white warbler
tree swallow
blue-gray gnatcatchers
bluebird
veery joined in tree by catbird pair
wood thrush serenading us while we spotted or heard a parula, prothonotary,
redstart, hooded, scarlet and summer tanagers, Baltimore and orchard orioles,
indigo bunting and probable cerulean
black-throated blue
other species heard:
pileated woodpecker
ovenbird
wood-peewee
An exciting morning of birding was capped off by lunch at The Ironhorse
Restaurant in Ashland.
