With the deep snow and strong winds came plenty of birds to the feeders this
morning. In addition to the usual Fox Sparrow were 2 more, for a total of 3 Fox
Sparrows, more than I have seen together in our yard in a while. Also taking
advantage of the buffet were Towhee, 11 Song Sparrows, 20 or more
White-throated Sparrows and at least 100 Juncos.
Another Purple Finch showed up to join the two dozen Cardinals and many
Goldfinches, and I was treated to the sight of three different woodpeckers:
Red-bellied, Yellow-bellied Sapsucker, and Downy Woodpecker on one tree at the
same time, waiting in line for the suet.
4 Wood Ducks were on the small pond most of the day.
