I led the Fairfax Audubon field trip to Prince William Forest Park this
morning, and our party of 4 was treated to a trip that was quiet much of
the time but still managed to see the target birds. Highlights were a
blue-headed vireo, about 3 dozen pine warblers, 2 Louisiana
waterthrushes, 3 hermit thrushes, a yellow-bellied sapsucker, and an
out-of-habitat swamp sparrow. A complete list is at the end of this
message.
I also stopped by Neabsco creek in the afternoon and found at least 2
blue-winged teal among the scads of green-wings, a single lesser
yellowlegs, many greater yellowlegs, and both adult eagles at the nest.
